Off to Hogwarts!

So I am off to Orlando, via Chattanooga, to visit Harry Potter!  I am really excited to go on this adventure with my home-girl!  I also get to see two of my favorite people.  I don't know what to do with myself without my daughter--but I will probably call her a lot while I'm gone.  I will probably still bring my books down there, because I am a bookworm and who knows-I may have a little time!

I'm done rambling! Wish me luck!

Reading, Reading, Reading!

Good afternoon, all!  I went to the library today to pick up some books that I had put on hold, so I should be able to get some good reading done this week.  I am hoping to get most of them finished by the time I go out of town, but I highly doubt it.  The Witching Hour is HUGE!  I've been wanting to read it for a long time, so I'm hoping it proves worth the wait.  I also won a book through Goodreads that I will be getting in the next few weeks.  I'm excited about that because it's a new book by a new author.  More on that when it comes in!

Matched by Ally Condie

The Witching Hour by Anne Rice

Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

Also, I get to go to Orlando at the end of next week and I'm really looking forward to it.  I was hoping to have lost a little more weight before then, but it is what it is!  I am going down there for my very best friend's wedding reception.  I am more than excited because I also get to spend time with two incredible friends and ladies who will accompany me to HOGWARTS! at Universal Studios.  I was not a Harry Potter fan until about September of last year, when I was forced to read the books, and now I am hooked!  It will be my first ladies trip ever and I am looking forward to it.  Bring on the Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice!!

This week has been a little stressful so far trying to wrap things up with moving from Chattanooga, planning a little party for Audrey, and work. BUT the good thing is that I will have my husband back home with us, which is amazing.  If I can just get to next week...  Either way-I will be making sure to take time for myself and read a little here and there as well as post reviews as I read them.

The beginning of the end

My life has definitely taken many unexpected turns in the past few years.  2011 is something I am going to look at as a catalyst year.  Of course, I have several goals in mind but the most important ones are those that are going to make me feel like a more complete person, inside and out.  The purpose of this blog is to keep up to date with book reviews because I feel as though writing will be cathartic to me--and I can't afford ballroom dancing lessons. =). So a little bit about how this started:

In 2010, I got completely tired of Disney movies, reality tv, and television in general.  I felt like I was in a rut and not getting anything out of my "me time" PLUS, my friend Amanda wanted me to go watch the new Harry Potter movie that was coming out and refused to let me go until I had read all the books and seen all the previous movies (which at the time I had not done yet!)  So 2 months and 7 books later, I was hooked on HP.  After that, I wanted to find other things to read and took suggestions, so with the help of my awesome friends at work, I made a list...and get this, I LOVED it.  I got so much out of it and feel so much more fulfilled than when I was watching all that TV.  I have to admit, I've never blogged before, so writing a review for a book is going to be a new challenge for me but I think it's all part of my new hobby and new "living vicariously through the characters" kind of life!  My friend, Julie does an incredible job at blogging, so if anything, my crazy blogs will make hers look even better!! =)

My goal for 2011 is to read 100 books.  With a Kindle and a library card in my pocket, I don't think it will be an unreachable goal!
So enjoy the ride, like I will and definitely make comments and suggestions, since I'm making this up as I go.
